Annual Vacation

How much annual vacation time am I entitled to?

Upon working one year you are entitled to three weeks of vacation time each year. After working ten years for the same employer you are entitled to four weeks vacation each year.

You may take your vacation in one uninterrupted period, or in periods of at least one week.

How much vacation pay am I entitled to?

You are entitled to vacation pay equivalent to 3/52 of annual earnings. After working five years for the same employer you are entitled to vacation equivalent to 4/52 of annual earnings.

When am I entitled to my vacation time?

You are entitled to take your vacation time within 12 months after each year of employment.

The employer and employee may enter into an agreement that, because of a shortage of labour, the employee will not take the vacation time to which he or she is entitled.

When should I receive my vacation pay?

You should receive your vacation pay during the 14 days before you vacation begins or, for workers who are entitled to an annual holiday pay but who do not take the annual holiday, within 11 months after the day on which the worker becomes entitled to the annual holiday.

What legislation determines the annual vacation and vacation pay?

The Saskatchewan Labour Standards Act provides the above regulations.
