How much annual vacation time am I entitled to?

Upon working one year you are entitled to two weeks of annual vacation each year. After five years with the same employer, the employee is entitled to three weeks of annual vacation time.  Vacation must be taken in one unbroken period, or in periods of no less than one day at the request of the employee.

How much vacation pay am I entitled to?

The employee is entitled to vacation pay equivalent to 4% of annual earnings. After five years with the same employer the employee is entitled to vacation equivalent to 6% of annual earnings. If an employee receives a monthly salary, each week of vacation pay is arrived at by dividing their monthly pay by 4 1/3.  All construction workers and brush clearing employees are entitled to vacation pay at rate of 6% of their regular wages from the start of employment. Vacation pay must be paid by december 31st of each year or as frequently as every pay cheque.

When am I entitled to my vacation time?

You are entitled to vacation time within 12 months after each year of employment.  If a mutually acceptable time for the employee’s vacation cannot be determined, the employer can determine the vacation time and give the employee at least two weeks notice in writing of the start date of their vacation. The employee must take their vacation at that time.

When should I receive my vacation pay?

You should receive your vacation pay at any time or on the next regularly scheduled payday, or at the request of the employee, at least one day before the vacation begins.
